Our Work - Our Music - 1
2008:
Fifteen members of the Mthunzi Culture Group and two members of the Mthunzi Centre staff travelled to Scotland, stayed in Mid Argyll, Barra and Troon with wonderful host families.
Sarah Cairns, a member of the Dalriada Junior Gaelic Choir based in Mid Argyll, John Joe MacNeil, a musician from the Isle of Barra, and Sean Pieper a traditional fiddler from Troon, were the young people who organised a huge range of activities to be shared with the Mthunzi group. They’ll lead the exchange to Zambia in 2009.
2009:
A party of eleven Scots travelled to Zambia, stayed at the Mthunzi Centre and toured with the 30-strong Mthunzi Culture Group.
Dance, drama, song and music from the Celtic and Zambian traditions were shared - piper Lewis Kilgour caused quite a stir. Thanks to Mid Argyll Pipe Band for sending a kilt to Zambia - like the music, it was shared.
